Hi, I work and live in Waterford City. My fulltime job is working as an IT support Technician in South East technological University. My interest in the SDG project was ignited from attending a talk on Sustainable Development Goals in Higher Education in the University in April 2024. Subsequently I availed of the opportunity to complete two digital badges Education for Sustainability and Education for Sustainability Facilitator. I have an active interest in sustainability in all its facets. In the last twenty years through my interest in gardening and making my home more energy efficient I have seen the need and personal benefits of practicing sustainability and caring for the environment. The main reason I am doing this SDG advocacy training is that I am secretary of a community group called Waterford New Communities Network (WNCN) (See https://waterfordncn.ie/ for more details) I hope to use the skills gained from participating in this SDG Advocate Training for the benefit of WNCN by encouraging and motivating the members to collaborate and work in creative ways that align with the SDGs. I am been very fortunate in my life to have had the opportunity to have availed of formal learning in the Environmental , Science and Humanities disciplines and I definitely believe in and am practicing lifelong learning and personal development in its many forms. I believe when one is given educational opportunities and support then one becomes aware of a deep spiritual knowing and desire to living a fulfilling meaningful joyful life that benefits oneself and the world. The SDG project and framework allows for and gives a huge opportunity for everyone to make their unique contribution to manifest a better world. I see this training as another opportunity to experience new learning and to add to my skills and implement what I have learnt so far in another productive way to contribute to my ongoing intention of living a joyful meaningful life that benefits myself and my community.
