My name is Louise MacAvin, and I work in the further education and training sector in SOLAS, the state agency responsible for further education and training (FET) in Ireland. In the past few years, my work has been focused on collaborative initiatives such as the development of green skills FET Micro-Qualifications for employees and employers.
I volunteer in my local community; I am a member of Kilfinane Community Council in County Limerick and also involved in other community groups. We organise a number of events such as an Intercultural Food Fair in Kilfinane every year. Last year, as a member of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Eireann, I was also involved in hosting the Limerick Fleadh Cheoil in Kilfinane in 2024 including putting actions in place around reducing the amount of waste at the event.
I am delighted to have the opportunity to participate in the SDG Advocate training so that I can build on my skills, create awareness of SDGs in the community. I would like to develop an action project involving the local community focusing on biodiversity and well-being actions of SDGs.
