Real Impact in Local Communities
Climate Action at Home and in Sport
Louth’s Gregory Doran, a participant in the 2025 training, has reduced his household carbon footprint with solar panels, an electric vehicle, and wildlife-friendly initiatives. At Drogheda Town FC, he helped install solar panels, energy-efficient LED floodlights, and heat pumps, while adding biodiversity features like hedgerows and wildlife boxes—all supported by grants. Gregory credits the training for empowering him to turn knowledge into tangible community action.
Arts and Ecology Meet Community Resilience
Cork-based advocate Shannon Michaela Smith is launching “EcoSomatics”, a project that uses arts and heritage to address climate anxiety and restore connections with water. Her holistic approach links mental wellbeing, biodiversity, and food systems to foster community resilience and contribute to Ireland’s SDG targets.Take Action

Why the SDGs Matter
In 2015, world leaders agreed on 17 SDGs to tackle poverty, inequality, climate change, and more by 2030. But real change starts locally—and educators play a key role in inspiring action in their communities.
“Educators are at the heart of change. Participants gain new skills and inspire their communities to take meaningful action.”
