United for Social Transformation (UxST) is an Erasmus+ project co-funded by the EU. In this two-year project, we are working with five other European organizations to support young people (13-30yrs) to recover from the negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Development Perspectives are leading the Irish cohort and are working alongside organizations from four other countries in Spain, Portugal, Lithuania, and Italy.
So what’s involved?
At the core of this initiative is a desire to support young people to enhance and nurture their skills in for core areas:
Life Goals
Active Citizenship
Green and Sustainable Living
Inter- and Intra-personal Relationships
Paul and Mel at DP have spent the winter of 2022 discovering how the pandemic has impacted our young people and now with that information, we are developing an online training course.
The research from this European-wide study will be publicly available to read in February 2023.
The Course
Starting in April 2023 the self-paced online training course will feature guest speakers and a whole host of skills designed to teach and empower young people so that they can contribute with courageous confidence on societal issues that matter to them.
We know that Irish society is better when the voices of Irish young people are listened to and acted upon.
All of our course participants will be able to apply for the in-person training course that will take place in Malaga Spain for a week in June 2023. Those selected will be notified in May 2023.
Malaga 2023
Participants who attend this fully funded portion of the training in Malaga will be working on developing a YouTube channel and practicing their video activism to learn new skills and share their voices with peers and policymakers alike.
United for a more active, inclusive and sustainable Europe
The final part of this journey will be a contest held in late 2023, and early 2024.
Interested participants will work in teams to develop proposals for a more active, inclusive, and sustainable Europe. After a public vote, the winners will be going to Brussels to present their idea to EU policymakers in May 2023.
Get Involved
People between 18-30 years are welcome to participate in the Online Training Course and the other opportunities will open up in time to those participants.
