Use It or Lose It: A Dereliction Zine Workshop and Art Fair

Learn more about dereliction in Drogheda in this creative zinemaking workshop session and art fair!

We will collage and repurpose public records, newspaper articles and other printed materials to assemble a unique protest zine about derelict buildings in Drogheda and the surrounding local area. No experience needed – just show up and take part!

At the end of this session, participants will be invited to display their protest zine at the Use It or Lose It Art Fair hosted in an empty unit at The Laurence Shopping Centre. Zinemakers are encouraged to bring along any Drogheda-themed zines or artwork that they are welcome to sell on the day.

The art fair will also feature a special presentation of ‘100daysofwalking’, a photography project by Drogheda Dereliction and Vacancy. Four years after documenting 100 local derelict and vacant properties, the project revisits each location to reveal what has changed—and what has not. Visitors are invited to reflect on the pace of this change, the impact of vacancy, and the opportunities that still exist to transform forgotten spaces into vibrant places.

Use It or Lose It is a collaboration between Michael Tuohy and Ann McVeigh from Drogheda Vacancy and Dereliction, Rank and File Collective and Drogheda Zine Fair as part of Festival of Ideas 2026.
