USE IT OR LOSE IT – A DERELICTION ART FAIR / #100DAYSOFVACANCY RE:VISITED – PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION

Workshop participants will be invited to display their dereliction zines at the Use It or Lose It Art Fair hosted in an empty unit at The Laurence Shopping Centre. The art fair will also feature a special presentation of ‘#100DaysofDereliction Re:visited’, a photographic exhibition by Drogheda Dereliction and Vacancy. Everyone welcome on the day!
#100DaysofVacancy Re:Visited is a photographic exhibition documenting local derelict and vacant buildings. The images were captured four years apart and offer a visual exploration of Drogheda revealing how these forgotten spaces have or have not changed over time.

Use It or Lose It is a collaboration between Michael Tuohy and Ann McVeigh from Drogheda Vacancy and Dereliction, Rank and File Collective and Drogheda Zine Fair.

Drogheda Cycling Group is presenting a concept for a pedestrian and cycle path attached to the existing Boyne Viaduct. The concept is modelled on numerous similar projects all across Europe. including at Albi, France.

TALKS ON DERELICTION, ADAPTATION AND REUSE

Our guest speaker, Rob Cross will be giving a visual showcase of his work documenting and mapping dereliction across Ireland, with a particular emphasis on a number of buildings in Drogheda. The presentation will explore how data, aerial mapping, colourisation and social media storytelling can reveal the scale, character and heritage value of vacant and derelict buildings.
Afterwards Nicola Mathews, Senior Architect in the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage and the National Contact Point for the New European Bauhaus, will speak about ‘New Life for historic buildings and places through a Shared Culture of Adaptation & Reuse’
